Spring/Summer Fashion 2018
Spring is one of the best seasons for many reasons – weather is warming up, flowers are blooming, and summer is right around the corner! Spring fashion is always a hit with pastel colors, chic blazers, and flowy dresses. This year’s Spring/Summer 2018 runway looks were a definite knockout with jaw-droppers like the new Giambattista Valli collection. As for up-and-coming trends, we see a lot of dark wash denim, fringe, bustier tops, and trench coats.
This year, I had the opportunity to walk the top two fashion weeks in Canada – Western Canada Fashion Week and Vancouver Fashion Week. Both showcasing local and international designer talent. Long weeks but well worth the while as I mingled with fellow models, designers, hair & makeup artists, and countless creatives in the industry. Although between WCFW & VFW, I was not able to walk the full time for either and instead split my time between the two.
Western Canada Fashion Week
WCFW takes place in Edmonton, Alberta at the ATB Financial Arts Barns. The week kicks off with a series of awards and continues throughout a week with designer showcases.
This season, I had the opportunity to close the collection for Lennard Taylor. Lennard Taylor is a spunky designer from Manitoba – who continues to sell product in store in Winnipeg as well as attend fashion weeks across the country.

Vancouver Fashion Week
Vancouver Fashion Week takes place at the Chinese Cultural Centre downtown Vancouver. Fashion Week has media coverage from companies including Marie Claire, Elle Canada, Flare, Fashion Style Mag, and Vogue. In addition to the main fashion shows that take place throughout the week, there is also a Kids Fashion Show that takes place in the mornings.
Being in Vancouver Fashion Week for three days, I was able to walk for five designers, all of which had phenomenal designs. You can tell that each piece these designers create has meaning to them as their passion for design shines through – which landed a select few to be featured in British Vogue! Creative, edgy, and chic looks like this will be in demand come the spring season!

The ANDRE Spring 2018 collection is bold and high fashion with an avant-garde approach as he decorated the models in black masks and silver headpieces.
